St Patrick's Day Trivia Night
Again, the trivia night was a resounding success. We had a total of 38
members attend with 35 contestants in six teams. The theme was, of course,
St Patrick’s Day, and most of those who attended outdid themselves
by dressing in green or wearing appropriate accessories. If we had had
a competition for best dressed, Joe Elmore would have won hands down. Joe
even had his hair and beard sprayed lime green. He wore a leprechaun hat
and had on green shorts and green shirt. What a sight!! Our patio area
was decorated with green balloons and shamrocks and the tables also had
the same theme.
The winning team on the night, the Pots of Gold, made up of
Dave, Fran, Jess & Cathy Peebles and Lorraine Cummings & Gordon
Bishop, had a great score of 86 out of 120. They each won a large block
of chocolate for their efforts. Congratulations!!!
The bottom scoring team, The Leprechauns, also won a small
chocolate each. The least number of correct answers was in the Groups of
Animals category and not one team scored more than 5 out of 10. The category
that scored the most correct answers was Aussie TV. What does that tell
us? The average score for this set of questions was 9.5 out of 10. We do
have some very knowledgeable people in the club though and not just for
TV questions.
We hope everyone enjoyed the night. We had some very favourable
comments on the night and have even had a couple of phone calls from members
saying what a good time they had.
After the serious part of the night, which means the questions
and not the amount of laughter coming from all of the teams, supper was
served. We have never seen so much green food and it hadn’t gone
off. There was everything from green cup cakes, cheese cakes, and slices
to green cordial on offer and it all tasted yummy.
The night finished around 1.30am on Sunday. Thanks to everyone
for participating and supplying the lovely supper, and a special
thanks to Graham & Sue
Cruice for being the markers. Thanks also to Lorraine & Gordon for helping
decorate the patio and for cleaning up towards the end of the night.
It takes quite a lot of hard work to organize a trivia night and
it was very satisfying to see so many members attend and enjoy themselves
so much.
