A WARNING TO LADIES JOINING THE CLUB...

When we decided to join the club my biggest concern was the requirement to complete the driver-training program. Although I have been driving a 4wd for several years I was still concerned that I would be pushed to drive beyond my capabilities. I attended the theory night looking around the room I was the only lady in the room, my concerns increased.

The Sunday morning we all set off from our meeting point for the training area with one of the trainers traveling in our vehicle. On the way out he explained what was going to happen during the day. On arriving at our training area, I was very happy to see 3 other ladies doing the program.

Throughout the day all drivers were given instruction on what was to happen next. Only you and the trainer are in your car, this is very helpful. All trainers inspire confidence and are very easy to talk to. At no time during the day did I feel nervous or unable to achieve the task set before me. I remember at one point after snatching another vehicle over a hilltop, one of the trainers put his head through the window and said are you okay. In saying this he looked at my face and said you have not stopped smiling all day, you must be enjoying yourself. I learnt a lot and I had an awesome day. Best of all at no time was I made to feel any different than all the other drivers.

So the warning is to all the ladies out there, who are not sure, don’t be scared, have a go, I know you will enjoy the day and you may surprise yourself. I would like to thank all the trainers for all the help and support on my training day.

Happy 4 wheel driving, Chris Taege
