Crows Nest Weekend

We had been looking forward to attending a Club outing for some time. We had a good run up the range to Toowoomba & then out to Crows Nest. There were quite a few campers already & it wasn’t long until we were enjoying a coffee with great views in front of us.

Some of the fellows collected firewood for the night and the use of Ian’s ute made that job easier for them. We enjoyed a good camp fire & shared Joe’s birthday cake with him.

Up and relaxed, Saturday, we all went into Crows Nest for their celebrations in the park. Some Club members came home a little lighter in their pockets. We missed the procession, because the wind had got up, and we had to go home to secure the caravan awning. They had worm races & Ian McDowell won the heat, winning a certificate, an egg cup & a ribbon.

During the afternoon a strong cold wind got up meaning no fire for the night. The party moved in to Jan’s shed for the usual jovial activities.

A cool Sunday morning & Breakie over, I am sure that no one was prepared for the entertainment we had for about ¾ hour. The question was “how to get Bill’s shower tent into its bag?” Talk about laugh, I hope the photos show how much fun was had by all. In the end I am not sure who finally got the tent into the bag but we all had a good laugh.

Some of us went to the Cabarlah markets for a look before heading back to the camp for lunch. Not much packing and we were soon on the way home.

Joe & I could not have had a better place to share our birthday cakes. Thanks to the cook.
