Peachtrees - Jimna
30th April – 2nd May
PRESENT ON THE WEEKEND:
Joe, Carmel and Emily Elmore, Mal and Trish Hiscox, Gary and
Betty Chapman, Neil and Desley Middleton, Jim and Phyllis Williams, Jeff
and Donna Harth, Bevan and Jennifer Horsnell, Wayne, Jody Passfield and
family, Melinda and Chris Lenehan and family, Jeff and Beryl Crane and
family, Yvonne and Eric Jonker, Bill Freeman, Scott and Tanya Brehmer
and family.
We met Mal and Trish Hiscox at Yowie Park, Kilcoy around 7.30am on the
Saturday morning and roamed around the markets. Gary and Betty passed us
about 8.00ish. We arrived at Peachtrees just before 10.00am. By the time
we set up camp it was time for lunch.
Spoke to Jim Williams and Jeff Crane about the tracks. Jim led a trip
on Saturday afternoon.
We went up behind the fire tower and did some tracks around
there. Jim got a little caught up on one and had to winch himself out.
Got back up the top and it was unanimously decided to try some easier,
less demanding tracks.
Went over to the other side of the main
road and found some other overgrown
tracks and ventured along those. Jim
found a jump up that only he could make
up and no one else could. Ended up going
back to camp for Happy Hour. Had dinner
and then joined up again around the fire for
supper and a few laughs and a lesson in scone
cooking. (How many people does it take to cook
a batch of scones anyway?) During the course
of the evening spoke to Jeff Crane and planned
Sunday’s outings.
Jeff led us to the Sunday Creek Education Centre and Fire tower. After
that we stopped at a lookout on the way back to Jimna and some went back
to camp, while the others continued four wheel driving. Found a couple
of tracks the club had used before and eventually ended up at the tracks
behind the fire tower. Played a little and Chris decided to play on Jim’s
hill from the day before – but alas the same fate in the same spot.
Jim had to reverse down the steep hill and snatch Chris out. After that
we all returned to camp.
After a quick lunch, approximately 10 cars left at 2.20pm to go to Hunting
Lodge Estate Winery at Mt Kilcoy. We went via Monsidale Road
and arrived about 3.30pm. After sampling the wines, coffee and cake went
back to camp
via the main road, arriving back at about 5.30pm.
Dinner and then around the fire for scones, pikelets, drinks
and a few more laughs. Jim (moon dance – what moon dance??) and Fran
supplied the entertainment for the evening.
Thanks to everyone for a very enjoyable weekend,
Joe, Carmel and Emily Elmore
