Driver Training
21st November
We ate a leisurely breakfast knowing that we had to be at the petrol station
at 7.45am by the latest. That was right wasn't it! Bowl of cereal and tea
in hand we jumped into the car. Yes, it was the right place. All the fourbies
lined up, Oh! They’re all getting into their cars and taking off.
What was it? How do we travel in convoy? The door opens and a 'Greenie" hops
in. Hi I'm Graham. The day had begun.
The sky was overcast but the radar had shown no rain in Gatton. We would
proceed to the property and make a decision then. How far is that? only
an hour away. Blast my knitting was in the boot and we were already driving!
On arriving at the training site the Greenies (all in club t-shirts) held
a hasty meeting-mumble, mumble and proceeded to install a new up right
post on the frame for the shelter. Shall we get the chainsaw? No, we’ll
be right this time. Cover tightened down and instructions given for the
position of the ablutions block and we were straight into it.
First up, the Hill stall, morning tea, first aid and knotting, towing
demonstrations- wow, that was spectacular and then we were off to try it
out ourselves. The up hill and down dale to the tune of "Are you ready?" "Noooo!" from
Ann and SH>>>>>from a few others as we tried out the "no
brakes" techniques.
The trainers themselves were ever patient and happy to repeat it till
we felt confident. The weather held off, the grass was green, and a lesson
in how to empty the porta loo later all was right at the training ground.
A great day for the newbies, another success in training for the Greenies.
As a last hoorah the offer was made would you like to buy a t-shirt? Yeah,
we want to get rid of them so we can buy some new ones. Welcome to the
club.
Thanks for the attention to detail - name tags, sticker and toilet. Congrats
on a wonderful team. The training was great! Now how does it go? - Release
the hand brake, foot off the clutch and scream!!!!!!!!
