Brooklyn

21-22 Feb 2004

I arrived at the property at about 11am Friday morning to be the one and only club member to turn up for the weekend clean up and re-discover the property. Friday night I was camping with all my friends, me, myself and I. So we all had a hot and early night.

Next morning after seeing Terry and finding out what tracks he wanted cleared it was off to the track up past the waterfall so I started clearing the track myself.

After clearing part of the track I headed back towards camp until I heard Jim & Ian on the radio and met them at the mower entrance to the property, we then headed back to the track and finished clearing it before it got to hot and then back to camp to meet 2 more campers set up ready for work.

With most of the clearing done we went off to drive some of the old tracks and some of the new ones as well and after heading up to the lookout for a few minutes we headed back to camp.

Back in camp we decided to jump into 2 cars and head down the road to the river for a swim and with the water rather warm we spent quite a while just lazing about and finally arriving back at camp before dark. Most of us sat up till about 11pm then hit the sack.

Sunday morning after breaky we took off to another track to clear, which with a few more people did not take long so we headed back to the rainforest to find a slight blockage which we cleared and then drove through and out with no more clearing to be done.

From here we headed back to camp for lunch and then off to a comp area for a bit of a play with a bit of a gully and hill climb and then back to camp to pack up for home with me leaving last at about 2.45pm with the temp in Terry’s shed hitting 38 and after an easy drive home got home about 5.30.

I want to thank all those who made the trip down for the weekend and let you know Terry is grateful for what we have done. So thanks again, next time in the cooler months – please!

Until next time.

Merv
