About the Club

In May 1979, local Ipswich residents formed the "Daihatsu and all 4WD Club of Australia". The name was later changed to the "Ipswich 4WD Club".

The Ipswich 4WD Club Inc. is a family oriented club full of friendly, interesting and active people. The club caters for all makes of 4wd vehicles.

Club Outings

Much of South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales are covered by day trips and camping week-end trips.

New members are encouraged to participate, members are always willing to give advice and assistance.

The Club strives to involve everyone in club activities such as camping, bushwalking, fishing, etc.... to fill in with its principle of outdoor recreation.

Everyone is encouraged to participate.

Club Code of Ethics

  1. Keep to the laws and regulations of 4WD vehicles. (This may change from State to State)
  2. Keep to constructed vehicle tracks. Do not drive "off-road".
  3. Keep the environment clean. Carry your own - as well as other people's - rubbish home.
  4. Obey restrictions on use of public land.
  5. Respect National Parks and other conservation areas.
  6. Obtain permission before driving on private property. Leave livestock alone and gates as found.
  7. Keep your vehicle mechanically sound.
  8. Take adequate water, food, fuel and spare parts on trips. In remote areas, travel with another vehicle.
  9. Respect our wildlife. Stop and look, but never disturb or chase animals.
  10. Respect other recreationalists' rights to peace and solitude in the bush.
  11. Obey all fire restrictions. Extinguish your fire before leaving. Don't let your exhaust emit sparks.
  12. Help in bushfires, emergencies and search and rescue if you are properly equipped and able.

General Information

Encouragement is given to the ladies to participate, with the result, the club enjoys a high participation rate from the female membership.

Social events are held regularly. They include:

  • Annual Dinner & Presentation Night
  • Dining out at restaurants
  • B-B-Q outings
  • A Club Christmas Party

On average, two activities are scheduled each month.

Driver awareness instruction is carried out periodically for the beginner, as well as refresher course for the experienced driver. This assists members to master driving techniques and gain a better appreciation of the capabilities of their vehicles.

  • our Annual Photo Competition
    • Best scenic photo
    • Best action shot
    • Funniest photo

These awards are presented at our Annual Dinner/Dance held mid-year.

Club Objectives

The Objectives of the Club are:

  1. To promote and enhance social activities between owners and users of 4WD vehicles.
  2. To encourage responsible and skilful use of 4WD vehicles in all situations
  3. To promote the enjoyment and protection of the environment for all through education - not restriction
